Celebrate your new outlook with a new home to spend time in, and you may be even more likely to succeed at meeting your goals and making a positive change. Even if not, you’ll still have an awesome on trend home. Read on to discover some of the hottest interior design trends we can expect in 2017.

Marble

If you haven’t noticed the trend for marble over the recent months, we’d be very surprised! The trend has expanded to everything from fashion to homewares to tech accessories,  so it’s no wonder it’s become so popular as a choice of décor.

Use marble (or imitation marble effect materials if you’re on a budget) for your floors and walls to make a statement, or use marble printed bedding, cushions and other textiles and home accessories if you want a more subtle way to take on the trend.

Tranquil Spaces

Today’s lifestyles are getting more and more hectic, especially as a lot of people find themselves overwhelmed by being constantly connected to digital devices and social media.

That’s why there’s a significant growing trend for creating separate spaces for relaxation, whether it’s an individual room or just a separate reading nook. It’s the perfect way to give yourself a ‘getaway’ after a long or difficult day.

The beauty of this trend is that it can be anything you want it to be. The trend is to create a space that makes you feel calm and safe,  but that could be anything depending on your interests, personality and preferences.

You may want to create a space inspired by nature for ultimate tranquillity, or perhaps you feel at your best when surrounded by bright and happy things you love. The choice is completely yours.

Terracotta

The trend for ‘rustic’ style interiors is constantly growing, but many designers and home decorators are straying from wood and brick – instead choosing to opt for terracotta, a warm-toned material used mainly for tiles, pots and roofing.

Using terracotta is a great way to add some welcoming warmth to your home, as well as combining an important part of India’s history.

The Colour of the Year

When planning on decorating with the coolest current trends in mind, taking a look at the Colour of the Year is a good place to start.

2017’s Colour of the Year has been announced by Pantone as Greenery (Pantone shade 15 – 0343), said to be “A refreshing and revitalising shade, Greenery is symbolic of new beginnings.

This zesty colour reflects nature and the world around us – something we should all be considering as we move forward into the rest of 2017. It’s not only a great colour to look at, but one that encourages a more conscious way of living.

As green is a colour found in nature, it’s one we’re used to seeing and is easy to integrate around the home.

You could feature Greenery as an accent wall (or even a bold statement room), on a sofa or lounge chair, on textiles – almost anywhere! It pairs well with neutrals, or other nature themed colour schemes. It also looks great with bright pops of colour, so try pinks, purples, yellows, blues and oranges to make a real statement.

Alternatively, why not add some real greenery to your home with an abundance of fresh flowers or plants?

Tropical Touches

With the growing popularity of green and nature themes based on the Colour of the Year, many brands are focusing on a fun, tropical take on nature, featuring brightly coloured florals and almost neon colours.

Imagine what you’d see on a tropical island and consider how you could recreate that overall theme in your home using colours and materials. Try using wooden furniture paired with bright, patterned textiles and light walls. You’ll soon be feeling the island vibes.

Pastel Shades – and Lots of Sparkle

You’re bound do have noticed the ongoing trends for unicorns and mermaids – and yes, even for adults! As a result, we’re seeing a lot of pastel tones like coral, sea foam, rose and lilac being used in home décor – as well as lots of metallic tones and glittery decorations.

The overall feel of this theme is whimsical, so don’t be afraid to get creative and try new things. And while many people say these elements are more suited to a child’s bedroom, there are plenty of ways to make the trend more ‘grown up’ for the whole household to enjoy.

Velvet

Velvet is having a huge moment in the fashion industry right now, so don’t be surprised when home wares start following the trend. This will mean the return of smooth or crushed velvet sofas, cushions, throw blankets and more – adding depth, texture and interest to your home interior.

Even better, the trend means velvet is appearing in a wider range of colours and styles than ever before, so you shouldn’t have to overhaul your whole interior theme to be able to add a piece of the trend to your home.
